Before you start
Slack and Teams update notifications go to a shared workspace channel. An admin configures the webhook destination, and each recipient registers their own mention details and consents.
- Admins: configure a shared channel under Workspace settings → Slack & Teams integrations.
- Each participant: open the relevant workspace or case, then use the bell → Preferences → Destinations for this workspace to register your own ID.
- Your organization may require administrator approval for Slack apps or Teams Workflows. Use a standard Teams channel.
Webhook URLs contain posting secrets. Do not paste them into public pages or support requests.
Register your own mention details
Slack
- Open the destination Slack workspace and your own profile.
- Select … → Copy member ID in your profile. Use the ID beginning with U or W, not your display name or email address.
- Choose the shared Slack channel in Destinations for this workspace and paste the ID into My Slack member ID.
Slack: Mentions and member IDs
Microsoft Teams
- Find your UPN (Microsoft 365 sign-in name) or Microsoft Entra user Object ID in the destination organization. Ask your organization admin if you are unsure.
- A UPN looks like name@organization.example; an Object ID is a GUID. Your email address may differ from your UPN. Guests should confirm their UPN or Object ID in the destination tenant.
- Choose the shared Teams channel in Tomopact and enter your own details in My Teams user ID / UPN and Teams display name.
Microsoft: User mentions in Adaptive Cards
Registration is self-reported. Tomopact cannot verify identity, organization membership, or channel membership automatically. Check your own ID and the destination before consenting and saving.
Set up a shared Slack channel
Create an Incoming Webhook URL
- Slack API: select "Create New App" → "From scratch" and create an app in the destination workspace.
- Open "Incoming Webhooks" and turn "Activate Incoming Webhooks" on.
- Select "Add New Webhook to Workspace".
- Choose the destination channel and authorize it.
- Copy the generated URL.
https://hooks.slack.com/services/…
Register it in Tomopact
Open Slack under Workspace settings → Slack & Teams integrations and fill in the following fields.
- Channel label
- The name shown when choosing a destination, for example Case updates.
- Slack workspace ID
- The ID beginning with T immediately after /services/ in the webhook URL.
- Channel ID
- The destination ID beginning with C. Open channel details by clicking its name in Slack and copy the channel ID. You can also find it in the browser URL /client/T…/C….
- Incoming Webhook URL
- Paste the URL you created. Confirm that its posting destination matches the channel ID.
Check the destination confirmation box and select Save integration. Saving does not switch participants' destinations automatically.
Set up a shared Teams channel
Create a Workflows webhook URL
- Open Workflows from the destination standard channel's … menu in Teams.
- Choose the "Send webhook alerts to a channel" template.
- Check the workflow name, Team / Channel, and authenticated account, then create the workflow.
- Set the "When a Teams webhook request is received" trigger to "Anyone". Tomopact does not send a Bearer token. If your organization does not allow this setting, use Web or Email notifications.
- Copy the webhook link from the saved workflow's details. To retrieve it later, open that workflow in Workflows.
Microsoft: Workflows setup · Trigger authentication
Legacy Incoming Webhook / connector URLs are not accepted. Use the signed Workflows URL on logic.azure.com or environment.api.powerplatform.com, including its complete query string. UI names may vary by Teams language and environment.
Configure the flow to post the received Adaptive Card from attachments directly to the channel. Keep both the <at> text and msteams.entities. Rebuilding only a text message loses the mention.
Find the IDs and register them in Tomopact
Use the destination channel's … → Copy link to find the IDs. Open Teams under Workspace settings → Slack & Teams integrations and enter the following.
- Channel label
- The name shown when choosing a destination.
- Teams tenant ID
- The tenantId= value in the link. Enter the destination organization ID.
- Teams team ID
- The groupId= value in the link. Enter the ID, not the team name.
- Channel ID
- The value after /l/channel/ in the link. Decode %3A as : and %40 as @ to enter 19:…@thread.tacv2 or 19:…@thread.skype.
- Workflow Webhook URL
- The URL you copied. Confirm that the flow posts to the channel identified above.
Microsoft: Channel links and IDs
Check the destination confirmation box and select Save integration.
Choose a destination and enable notifications
- Each participant opens the relevant workspace or case, then the bell → Preferences.
- In Notification events, set desired events in the Slack / Teams column to Related to me or All, then select Save preferences. Events set to Off are not sent.
- In Destinations for this workspace, choose the channel configured by the admin and enter your own mention details. The default is Off.
- Confirm that the IDs are your own, you belong to the channels, and everyone there may see your mention. Check the consent box and select Save destinations.
Shared-channel posts contain your mention, an update notice, and a sign-in link. They omit case names and content and do not grant additional case access.
After an admin saves the channel settings again, or when changing your ID, review the details, consent, and save. Previous personal connection details are not carried over to mention settings.
Check or stop notifications
Saving settings does not send a test notification. Ask another participant to make a new update, such as changing a condition or adding to a discussion, in a case covered by your preferences. Check the selected destination. Your own actions, past updates, and archived cases are not notified.
- Stop selected event types: set Slack / Teams to Off in Notification events and save.
- Stop notifications to yourself: select Off under Destinations for this workspace and save. This also removes your mention details for that service.
- Disable a shared channel: an admin selects Disable under Workspace settings → Slack & Teams integrations. Messages already posted cannot be recalled.
Troubleshooting
- The shared channel is unavailable
- Check that the admin saved an integration. Administrator setup or secure storage messages also require Tomopact-side delivery and storage configuration.
- Mention details cannot be saved
- Use a Slack member ID beginning with U or W, or a Teams UPN / Object ID and display name. Check the channel and your own ID, then consent. Reopen Preferences if settings changed in another window.
- The integration cannot be saved
- Check ID formats, the complete webhook URL, and the destination confirmation box. Re-enter the URL when changing it.
- Messages appear without working mentions or notifications
- Check that your ID belongs to the destination organization, you belong to the channel, and Slack / Teams notification settings allow alerts. Ask the admin to confirm that the Teams flow posts the Adaptive Card without stripping msteams.entities. Successful webhook acceptance does not prove mention display or notification delivery.
- Notifications do not arrive
- Check event preferences, saved mention details and destination, current consent, and case access. Also check that the Slack webhook or Teams flow is enabled with the correct destination and authentication.
